Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide’s youth wing has asked good-hearted Nigerians to support government efforts to lessen the effects of flooding in some areas of the nation.

This is stated in a statement provided to journalists in Owerri on Friday and signed by Mr. Chinedu Arthur-Ugwa, the South-South Zonal Coordinator of Ohanaeze youths.

All hands should be on deck, Arthur-Ugwa urged, adding that the government should not be solely responsible for supplying supplies for those in need.

He expressed sympathy for flood victims and applauded the Anambra, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Kogi governments for “the initiatives taken toward humanitarian relief.”

“We pray for divine intervention and offer our condolences to the families who lost loved ones as well as to those who lost property or were evacuated.

“We particularly applaud the Bayelsa government for suggesting to build a dam to prevent potential repetition, and we guarantee the Government that our support for their efforts would soon be transmitted to them.

“We’re dedicated to changing things. All hands must be on deck since the government cannot handle everything on its own.

“If you feel blessed, please bless others and offer as many accommodations as you can during this time. No illness is ever irreversible. Together, we accomplish a lot. Keep up the good work; it pays, he advised.
