The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the governors of the states of Zamfara and Niger met behind closed doors to discuss the deteriorating security situation plaguing the two States.
In an effort to find a long-term solution to the persistent banditry troubling both States, Governors Dauda Lawal and Mohammed Umar Bago traveled together to Zamfara, according to a statement from the media advisor to Zamfara Governor Suleiman Bala Idris.
The statement added that the Governors and the National Security Adviser met behind closed doors in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The report went on to state that Governor Lawal was deeply concerned about the security situation in Zamfara State and that this was the reason he had been looking into potential solutions to end it.
“Governors Dauda Lawal and Mohammed Umar Bago paid a visit to Mallam Nuhu Ribadu in an effort to strengthen cooperation between the two States and the National Security Adviser’s office.
“Since taking office as the state’s executive governor, Governor Lawal’s top goal has been bringing peace to Zamfara.
The Governors and the NSA “discussed significant security issues at the meeting,” he said.
