The Super Falcons’ next goal, according to Ashleigh Plumptre, is to qualify for the 2026 Olympic Games.
Following their outstanding performance at the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the previous African champions received a great deal of praise.
Randy Waldrum’s team went undefeated in group play, holding Olympic winners Canada to a scoreless tie and defeating co-hosts Australia with a perfect record.
However, the Three Lionesses of England eliminated the Super Falcons in the Round of 16 after a 4-2 loss on penalties.
In the opening round of the qualifiers for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, the West Africans will compete against Ethiopia in October.
“This has become our standard now.
According to Plumptre, “The expectation is that we compete with these teams constantly; hopefully, we have demonstrated that.”
The Super Falcons have missed out on qualifying for the last three Olympic games.
