Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s manager, expressed his disappointment at the red card given to Reece James in Wednesday’s 2-1 victory against Brighton.
After James kicked Joao Pedro, he was sent off.
Near the conclusion of regulation time, the England defender was sent a red card following a video assistant referee review.
This is James’s second infraction, therefore he’ll miss four games with a suspension.
Maybe it’s his annoyance. It was painful, though. Unfortunately, he is our captain and a key player, and losing him spoils what was otherwise a great football game.
The Mauricio Pochettino statement read: “I’m disappointed because now he’s going to miss the next game and maybe a few games in next season.”
