After Messi moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, Herrera played with him.
He talked about how much he loves United and defended Ronaldo’s slow start to the season in an interview with ESPN.
“How can you say a player is not for the team when he or she scored 24 out of 25 goals last season?
“The team’s best scorer and one of the best in Europe. He probably won’t score 50 goals every season, but he still fights, scores, and takes care of himself every day and every training session, so respect.
“Right now, you probably need to keep him under control in terms of training and games. You can’t make him play every game of the season, but he’ll be there for the big ones.
“The statistics are one thing you can’t lie about. And Ronaldo is always ready to fight, score, run, and take on the team’s responsibilities. I can’t find anything to criticize about Cristiano or Leo.
“Of course, everyone will talk about them, since they’re probably the two best football players in history,” Herrera said.
