Kaizer Chiefs’ contract for Nwabali scuttled due to his exorbitant transfer fee

Stanley Nwabali, goalkeeper for the Super Eagles, was too expensive for the South African side Kaizer Chiefs.

South African media outlets claim that the Chiefs are interested in signing the goalkeeper but are unable to pay his transfer cost of R30 million (around £1.3 million).

A number of teams have expressed interest in signing Nwabali following his stellar showing for the Super Eagles in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which took place earlier this year in Cote d’Ivoire.

The goaltender has been connected to a number of teams, including El-Ettifaq of Saudi Arabia and Queens Park Rangers of the Sky Bet Championship.

It is been reported that Kaizer Chiefs have withdrawn their interest in Nwabali, who was formerly much sought after, because of the substantial R30 million transfer fee.

“But with Itumeleng Khune’s future up in the air, the Amakhosi would be wise to consider investing in Nwabali and other notable players if they are serious about turning their fortunes around and strengthening their squad with talent,” pointed out Celine Abrahams of Goal.com.

Chippa United have two years left on the deal of the 27-year-old.
