Oba Olalekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, has pledged to assist the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Command in combating the threat posed by illegal mining operations in Oyo State.
On Tuesday, the king made this commitment.
When the Acting Zonal Commander of the EFCC’s Ibadan Command, Halima Mustafa Rufa’u, arrived at his palace for a familiarization visit, he spoke.
While addressing, Balogun said he was aware that the commission was working to combat the threat posed by illegal mining operations in the state.
Then he gave the commission his word that he would support them in stopping the threat.
The king added that the commission’s efforts to combat the threat of illegal mining in the state will have the support of him and his chiefs.
“I am glad that the EFCC is a prominent player in this campaign against illegal mining in Ibadan, and I commend you, Zonal Commander, for visiting my palace at this time.
“I can assure you of my full support, as well as the support of all the traditional chiefs in Ibadan, in seeing that the illegal activities come to an end. It is evident and we are aware that the Commission has been tackling the menace of illegal mining activities head-on.”
In her reply, Rufa’u gave the monarch assurance that the Ibadan Commission will take additional steps to reduce the threat of cybercrime in the State.
