Commissioner-nominee screening by the Ekiti Assembly has resumed

On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, the Ekiti State House of Assembly is scheduled to pick the last seven commissioner nominations.

In a statement provided to news outlets in Ado Ekiti, Hon. Babatunde Oke, who represents Ikere Constituency I on the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, said that, in accordance with Section 192(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the screening of the 21 commissioner-nominees sent to the House by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for screening and potential confirmation will continue on Tuesday, July 18, 2023

It should be recalled that the House had adjourned sine die during its plenary session on July 6, 2023, postponing the screening of commissioner-nominees it had begun on July 3, 2023.

14 commissioner applicants have already undergone screening and are pending confirmation from the House; the remaining seven nominees will be reviewed on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the sacred chamber.

As they appear before the House, the concerned commissioner-nominees should make sure they are adhering to the guiding principles that have previously been presented to them through the Clerk of the House, Mr. Tola Esan.
