Ebere confirmed his health status in an interview with the BBC, saying that he first started to have excruciating headaches, puffy eyes, and a swollen face from the incessant crying, followed by 45 minutes of temporary blindness.
He said, with reference to his intention to sob ceaselessly for a week, “I had to re-strategize and reduce my wailing.”

Ebere recently expressed his desire to participate in a seven-day non-stop crying marathon in a social media post that went viral and was accompanied with a flier.
