This was stated in a statement that Professor Chidiebere Onyia, the Secretary to the State Government, provided to DAILY POST.

The administration insisted that the sit-at-home ban still applies and advised citizens to carry on with their legitimate business as usual tomorrow, Friday.

The declaration reads:

The Enugu State Government desires to remind its people and residents that tomorrow, Friday, July 7, 2023, would be a regular working day with normal business as usual.

“The government issues orders for the opening of offices, schools, commercial spaces, and marketplaces, including Ogbete Main Market, among others. Failure to abide by this order will be seen as a deliberate attack on the government’s policies and initiatives to bring back full working days, productivity, and entrepreneurship in the state, and as such, will be punished with the proper punishments.

In order to continue enforcing law and order and protecting lives and property, the government advises the general population to ignore any scaremongers and carry on with their daily activities.

It is noteworthy that many of the enemies of Enugu State and Igbo land—hoodlums, anarchists, and criminal elements—have been found, arrested, and are currently facing charges for their crimes of destruction and violence as well as their role in spreading fear through the use of fabricated videos and images.

We are winning the war, therefore we’re asking Ndi Enugu to report the authorities of any suspicious people or movements, as well as anyone using social media to disseminate misinformation and cause panic among the populace.
