The narrow victory of Enyimba over Heartland has left Finidi with conflicting emotions

The technical adviser for Enyimba, Finidi George, stated that he thought his club would win Tuesday’s match against Heartland by a larger margin.

The Peoples Elephant scored the game-winning goal on a single stroke from Ekene Awazie.

Even though they won by a razor-thin margin, Finidi said that he was nervous.

But he did praise the team for giving him a birthday present befitting the occasion—the win.

On April 15th, the ex-Super Eagles midfielder hit 53 minutes.

“It’s amazing to come out on top. We were prepared for the match against Heartland, knowing that their position in the league would make it a challenging one,” he told the club’s media.

Looking back on the game, we could have scored more goals than we did. At one point, I was worried the away team may tie the game.

“However, I am pleased that my request that the boys win the game in honor of my birthday was fulfilled.”

With the win, Enyimba gained 51 points from 30 games, putting them in second place on the rankings.
