Ajebo Hustlers, a Nigerian musical group, have defended Grammy-winning musician Burna Boy’s controversial claim that the afrobeats genre lacks lyrical “substance.”
According to 460play, Burna Boy claimed that 90% of Nigerian musicians produce songs with little substance in a recent interview with Apple songs’s Zane Lowe.
Ajebo Hustlers responded via their Twitter account, claiming that Burna Boy was spot on.
Be angry at Burna however you want, according to Ajebo Hustlers’ tweet. Still, it doesn’t change the reality that half of your favorites create meaningless music. To be really honest, it is totally fair because, at the end of the day, this is entertainment. He is, however, telling the sad truth.
