On Tuesday, the Coalition of Nigerian Civil Society requested permission from the Federal High Court to observe Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, as he was being charged with illegally possessing guns.

The gang invaded the court and took their seats in the back, claiming to be lawyers defending democracy and being represented by five prominent attorneys.

According to NAN, the court has given them permission to observe.

Emefiele was charged with two counts of allegedly possessing guns illegally.

Emefiele had been placed on administrative leave by President Bola Tinubu, who also requested that he delegate his duties to Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi, the deputy governor of the operations directorate.

A few days after his suspension, the Department of State Services, or DSS, arrested Emefiele.
