In preparation for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Nigeria, head coach Gernot Rohr of the Republic of Benin has announced a 25-man roster.

Former Super Eagles coach Rohr selected 19 international players and 6 domestic superstars.

The German coach has named a number of players, including veteran attacker Steve Mounie and brothers Ayegun and Samson Akinyoola, who were born in Nigeria.

To improve their prospects of making it to their first World Cup, the Squirrels—who are currently winless in Group C—need to win their next two matches.

On Thursday, June 6, Rohr’s squad will play host to Rwanda’s Amavubi, who are currently leading Group C, at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny.

Nigeria, a neighboring country, would also be entertained at the same location four days thereafter.
