Reno Omokri: “I cannot support Tinubu in 2027; I advised Peter Obi to Atiku”

Atiku Abubakar, a past presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was endorsed by Reno Omokri, a socio-political analyst, to be his running partner in 2019.

Atiku asked Omokri to suggest Obi as his running mate, and Omokri complied.

In an interview that aired on Seun Okinbaloye’s podcast, Mic On, the former presidential assistant made the comments.

In the 2027 presidential election, he promised that he would never abandon Atiku to back President Bola Tinubu.

The economic recovery initiatives put out by Tinubu have had the backing of Omokri.

In spite of this, he made it clear that he was the one who suggested Peter Obi to Waziri Atiku Abubakar as a potential running mate in 2019 when the latter requested him for my assistance.

I talked to former president Jonathan, and he said Peter Obi was the name, but I refused to give him just one. We included other people to make Obi’s name appear good on the list.

“Obi was chosen by Atiku, so now that a man has done me a great service, I will be supporting his opponent in the next election?”

“I don’t have the wherewithal to do that; if Atiku does indeed choose to run for president in 2027 as the PDP’s nominee, I am obligated to back him.”
