The selection of former state governor David Umahi by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a positive step for the South-East, according to Mr. Victor Nwoke, who represents the Abakaliki North constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

Nwoke, a politician for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealed this to reporters shortly after a meeting with his constituents.

He exhorted Umahi to repair all of Nigeria’s appalling roads, particularly those in the South-East geopolitical region.

Nwoke attributed the high number of traffic accidents in Nigeria to past administrations’ failure to repair all of the poor roads.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s choice of David Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State, is a positive development that will help the state, the South-East region, and Nigeria as a whole.

“He (Umahi) should fix all of Nigeria’s terrible roads correctly using the knowledge he acquired while building Ebonyi roads.

“He ought to investigate the route that travels from Ebonyi to Abuja via Benue State. It should be built the route that connects Ebonyi with Cross River, he remarked.

The legislator also requested that the second Niger Bridge be finished from the minister-designate.

He continued, “The road that leads from Enugu State to Abuja, which is now impassable, as well as the East-West road, should also be given attention.”
