Christopher Nkunku’s potential roles in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting lineup for Chelsea have been made public.
The manager’s response came in response to suggestions that the Frenchman will mostly play as a striker.
Despite giving up the first goal in Philadelphia in the 2023 Summer Series on Saturday night, Chelsea defeated Brighton 4-3.
Early in the first half, Nkunku evened the score for the Blues, and goals by Mykhailo Mudryk, Conor Gallagher, and Nicolas Jackson gave Chelsea a three-goal advantage until Joao Pedro and Deniz Undav scored two late consolation goals.
Raheem Sterling, Ian Maatsen, and Carney Chukwuemeka lined up on either side of Chelsea’s starting striker Nkunku.
“Well, I think Nkunku can play in different positions,” Pochettino said to Chelsea TV.
He is used as a striker in these two games because of the circumstances, but he can also play as an offensive midfielder, a No. 10 or a No. 8, or on the wing.
However, he is a superb player and is getting better.
