Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, a minister-designate, resigns as a member of Congress

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the federal legislator who represented Ondo State’s Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has formally resigned.

The letter, delivered to Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, announced the resignation of the legislator who will serve as Interior Minister.

On Sunday night, Mr. Babatunde Alao, the Tunji-Ojo spokesperson, provided a copy of the resignation letter to 460play.

Tunji-Ojo acknowledged in the letter that his appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s administration was what led to his resignation.

He acknowledged the urgent necessity for technocrats to offer their knowledge to the country’s prosperity and economic development at this time.

Tunji-Ojo said he is ready to offer his all for the renewed hope and agenda of the current administration and thanked President Tinubu for thinking he was deserving of the opportunity to serve the nation in his new capacity as a Minister.

“Our dear country is in dire need of collaborative and concerted efforts that would engender the much-needed advancement to greater heights,” the letter stated in part. “I have been appointed to contribute my quota to achieve that enviable objective as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Tunji-Ojo, also referred to in the political sphere as BTO, is one of the 48 ministers that President Tinubu appointed and who would be sworn in today, Monday, in Abuja.
