The introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the 2023–24 Nigeria Professional Football League season has been announced by the Nigeria Referees Association.

Sanni Zubair, the NRA’s president, revealed this in a conversation with the media.

According to Zubair, the use of VAR would improve referees’ effectiveness in sports.

He continued by saying that the association is closely cooperating with the NPFL broadcast partner to reach the objective.

In the forthcoming season, retired FIFA-badged referee Zubair is enthusiastic about the quality of the officiating.

Shooting Stars vs. Plateau United will be the first game of the new season on September 9 at Ibadan’s Lekan Salami Stadium.
