Nigerians may be certain that NAFDAC, the country’s food and drug administration and control agency, would continue to work toward its goal of promoting healthy eating habits.

It was during a one-day sensitization session for dealers on the registration of packaged edible oil under the ‘Micro-Scale in Nigeria’ that Josephine Daliyim, the agency’s North-West Zonal Director, made this revelation on Monday in Kaduna.

As the preeminent regulator of all such items in Africa, the agency will make sure that Nigerians only eat approved products.

“We will do what is right to safeguard the health and lives of Nigerians,” she stated, emphasizing that public health must never be compromised.

She said that protecting the people’s health is one of NAFDAC’s primary missions and that the exercise was planned in response to widespread public outcry over the country’s unhealthy edible oil output.

She added that the importance of doing this awareness training at this time could not be more stressed.

The public has voiced concerns about the product’s lack of adequate regulation during the agency’s routine monitoring operations.
