Jose Mourinho, the manager of Roma, made fun of teams like Barcelona and Juventus, which are likely to drop out of the Champions League and play in the Europa League instead.
Mourinho doesn’t like the rule that lets teams that finish third in the group stage of the Champions League move on to the knockout stage of the Europa League.
After their 1-1 draw with Real Betis on Thursday, the former Chelsea manager called those teams “sharks.”
When reporters asked Mourinho which teams are the favorites to win the Europa League trophy, he said, “I see them [Betis] as candidates, but the failed sharks of the Champions League will arrive, and they will come in hard.
“They shouldn’t come, but that’s what’s going to happen. It should be fun. The Champions League’s failures.”
