On Monday, it was reported that the Premier League team was keeping an eye on Bassey.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer analyst, disclosed that Brighton has begun negotiations with Ajax for the player.
“Brighton has already begun speaking with Calvin Bassey about becoming their new center back. Deal involving Levi Colwill seems difficult because Chelsea has not changed its stance that he is not for sale. Romano posted the hashtag #BHAFC on his Twitter account.
De Zerbi appreciates Bassey and is awaiting Ajax’s clarification of the possible asking price.
Prior to deciding to join Ajax last summer, the 23-year-old was under Brighton’s consideration.
