The Nigeria Police Force, or NPF, has cautioned troublemakers against making rash statements and spreading false information.
Prior to the Presidential Election Tribunal’s decision about the election on February 14, NPF issued the warning.
The NPF’s spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed this in a statement he released on Tuesday.
Prior to the decision on Wednesday, Adejobi also revealed the placement of police officers throughout Nigeria.
The statement says, in part, “The Nigeria Police Force has strengthened its deployment across the length and breadth of Nigeria in its bid to fortify security architecture and forestall any breakdown in law and order across the country as a result of the forthcoming Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Judgment scheduled to be passed on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
“The NPF strongly advises everyone, even troublemakers and political gladiators, to exercise prudence in their words and deeds since the Force will not support actions that could incite violence or lead to the spread of disorder.
“To maintain a peaceful and secure environment, it is essential for all citizens to embrace peace and maintain calm, regardless of their political affiliations.”
According to 460play, the tribunal will make a decision on Wednesday over the suit filed by Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s election.
