In a viral video, El-Rufai claimed that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s current presidential candidate, had placed him under house arrest for 48 hours in Anambra state during the election while he was speaking to the Arewa joint committee in Kaduna State.

Asserting that he had the First Mechanized Division of the Army in Kaduna, he said I would have also detained the former governor, who would be in the state for his 2023 presidential campaign in a few days.

However, the governor of the All Progressive Congress, APC, declared that he would not detain Obi since Northerners are decent people.

Before I go on, I want to mention that when I traveled to Anambra State to supervise the poll on behalf of my party, Peter Obi, who was the Governor, placed me under house arrest for a period of 48 hours.

“I am the Governor of Kaduna State today, and he is visiting Kaduna to campaign. In addition to other security agencies, I have the First Mechanized Division of the Army in Kaduna. However, I will not arrest him because we Northerners are civilized people.”
