Henry Winter questions why Zouma was made captain by West Ham after kicking a cat

Henry Winter, top football writer for Times Sport and a British journalist, has criticized West Ham United for selecting French defender Kurt Zouma as captain despite the uproar surrounding his cat-kicking incident.

According to 460play, Zouma was sentenced to 180 hours of community service by Thames Magistrates’ Court in June 2022 after pleading guilty to kicking and hitting a cat.

The West Ham defender was also forced to pay over £9,000 in court costs, and the court also imposed a five-year ban on cat ownership.

At London Stadium on Sunday, Zouma led West Ham to a historic 3-1 victory over Chelsea.

Winter claimed, though, that he is not deserving of the West Ham captain’s armband.

James Ward-Prowse, a recent signing, is more deserving, according to him, as “he’s a natural captain and he’s never kicked a cat.”

Kurt Zouma captains West Ham United, Winter said on his Twitter account. Why James Ward-Prowse instead? Despite the fact that he is a new member of the team, he is a natural leader and has never kicked a cat.
