Samson Siasia, Mikel Obi’s former coach with the Super Eagles, has said that Obi is quite obstinate.
Over the weekend, Siasia revealed this in a podcast alongside writer Mathew Edafe and former international Emmanuel Babayaro.
He claims that he has a hard time putting up with obstinate football players.
“Mikel is a bit off my radar since he is so obstinate. That kind of person is just too much for me to handle. Coming to the Olympics and doing well was the one redeeming quality in his actions. His leadership qualities were evident,” said Siasia, a former striker for the Super Eagles.
Under Siasia’s leadership, the Under-20 football team from Nigeria won the 2005 African Youth Championship and advanced to the U-20 World Cup final the same year in The Netherlands.
He coached the U-23 squad to two Olympic medals: silver in 2008 and bronze in 2016.
You may remember that the 56-year-old was taken on as coach of the Super Eagles in 2010 and stayed for a year before being reappointed in 2016.
