Virgil van Dijk, the captain of Liverpool, has stated that he does not think FIFA rigged the 2022 World Cup so Argentina’s Lionel Messi will win it.

Louis van Gaal, Van Dijk’s former national team coach, had made the assertion.

When Van Gaal suggested that the tournament had been rigged so that Messi and Argentina would win, he raised eyebrows as the coach of the Netherlands during the competition in Qatar.

In their quarterfinal, Argentina overcame the Netherlands on penalties.

In advance of the upcoming international matches, Van Dijk, who participated in that game, was asked for his thoughts on the subject.

Regarding Van Gaal’s charges, Van Dijk responded to Dutch news source NOS, “I heard it this morning, indeed.”

“And that’s really all there is. Of course, that is his opinion. Everyone is free to express their opinions. I disagree with that viewpoint.
