Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has ordered all revenue advisers and agents hired by Ministries, Agencies, and Departments (MDAs) in the state to be fired right away.
This is what Alhaji Abubakar Usman, who is the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), said in a statement in Minna on Thursday, as reported by NAN.
He said that the goal of the disengagement is to make sure that income enforcement and collection in the state are open, accountable, and run smoothly.
“The measure is part of the current administration’s larger efforts to create a more organized and accountable way to bring in money, which will help the state’s economy grow in a way that is sustainable,” Bago said.
The governor told the affected organizations that they had to give back any official cars and papers to the permanent secretary or the most senior director in their respective MDAs right away.
