Alhaji Babangida Katsina, the late General Hassan Katsina’s son and a former governor-general of northern Nigeria, has described how his late father left behind N500,000 in life savings.

At the inaugural public lecture held by the Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic in Katsina in memory of his late father, Babangida made this admission.

He claimed that his father left all of his children a good name, honesty, discipline, and transparency, adding that if his father had still been alive, the situation in the northern region would have worried him.

He bemoaned the fact that banditry, murders, kidnappings, damage to property, and the rape of children now plague the north.

He asserted that in order to prevent the region’s total destruction, northern leaders must rise to the challenge and take decisive action.

In a related speech, Dr. Amina Hassan Usman, the late Hassan Usman Katsina’s daughter, lamented the northern region’s deteriorating fortune and urged leaders to take appropriate action.

Professor Sani Abubakar Lugga, a former Wazirin Katsina, stated that, as far as he is aware, the late Hassan Usman Katsina only left two houses, one in Katsina and the other in Kaduna.

Leaders from the north were urged by the Wazirin Katsina to emulate the late leader’s dedication to serving God and humanity.
