Vice President Kashim Shettima was among many notable guests who visited Owo, the hometown of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the former governor of Ondo State who passed away on Friday.
Members of the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, as well as current and former governors, senators, and ministers were among those who paid their respects to the late governor.
Funeral attendees and mourners waited patiently along Owo’s streets as state dignitaries departed for The Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew.
At about 9:55 in the morning, officials from the Amotekun Corps escorted Akeredolu’s remains into the church.
The burial of the late governor would take place in the Government Reserved Area, GRA, Owo, near his Maranatha house.
Prior to his passing, Akeredolu served as Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Owo.
