Godwin Emefiele, the Central Bank of Nigeria’s suspended governor, has been given permission to assist Yusuf Magaji Bichi, the director general of the Department of State Services, in carrying out the court’s order admitting him to bail and ordering his remand in the care of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
On Tuesday, Justice Nicholas Oweibo issued the ruling after Emefiele’s attorney, Ogonnaya Sonuga, filed an ex-parte application.
Adeogun Ayodele Samuel of the Victor Opara Law Firm submitted a 15-paragraph affidavit in support of the application, according to The Guardian.
According to the 460play, Emefiele was given N20 million bail by the court on July 25, 2023, after being charged with illegally possessing a gun and ammunition.
The suspended CBN governor is on trial for two counts related to the illegal possession of a single barrel shotgun and 123 live rounds of ammunition.
To the charge, he entered a not guilty plea.
Emefiele was re-arrested by the DSS following the court hearings.
