Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe State, has promised additional resources to the state’s security forces so that they can do a better job of keeping the state safe.

at a statement released through his media aide, Mamman Mohammed, the governor made the promise at his office on Friday, when he received the award from the Nigeria Police Force for the finest police patrol outfit in the country, which had been won by Operation Haba Maza.

As an emergency measure to supplement the state’s normal security services, Buni launched Operation Haba Maza in 2019.

The state’s security services have worked together effectively, he said, and the result is a dramatic drop in crime rates.

Yobe State Police Commissioner Garba Ahmed praised the governor for forming the unit.

Damaturu is the capital of the state and its surrounds, and the group has been an enduring rock in the battle against crime there, he added.

In an effort to reduce crime, Ahmed has requested more cars to improve logistics for efficient state-wide patrols and has advocated for the outfit’s expansion to other large towns.
