Posted by Chaos broke out as parents hurried to pick up their kids from Kingdom Heritage Model School in the Jahi neighborhood of Abuja’s Federal Capital Territory following a tanker explosion.
The school is owned by Bishop David Oyedepo’s Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel.
The event happened on Monday, October 17, at 11:30 am, when a diesel-filled tanker overturned while en route to a nearby petrol station and burst into flames.
Following the explosion, it was learned that the school administration had sent a “distress message” to the parents asking them to pick up their children for their safety.
Given the level of unrest in the nation, many parents who were unable to comprehend the explosion’s cause believed that the church and the school were being attacked.
The roaring fire, which was just a few meters from the school, was put out by FCT Fire Service personnel, and normalcy was restored.
