Toni Kroos, a midfielder for Real Madrid, has claimed that he would have reduced his pay if the team had requested him to do so amid rumors that he could leave Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
This summer, Kroos was about to become a free agent.
Despite rumors of a future retirement, the German chose to sign a one-year deal to stay at Madrid.
According to reports, the player’s pay has remained constant. Kroos, however, appears to have been amenable to a lower pay offer had Madrid made it.
Kroos stated on Twitter: “If I have to lower my salary, I would do it without any problem because when you are a Madridista, it is not about money.”
