Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, governor of Anambra state, has denounced the assassination of a prominent member of the Umuoji community in the Idemili North Local Government Area.
On Friday night, unidentified assailants brutally murdered Mr. Silas Onyima in his house; he served as the community’s president-general.
In his home’s bathtub, his nude corpse lay in a pool of blood.
In a statement sent by his press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, Soludo strongly denounced the murder, describing it as a horrific act of violence that did not stem from any kind of provocation.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Mr. Onyima’s loved ones, the people of Umuoji, and the whole Idemili North Local Government Area.
“As we continue to collaborate with security authorities to deter those who commit violent crimes from targeting our communities and state, we implore all citizens of Anambra to maintain composure and abide by the law.
Governor Soludo has pledged to bring those responsible for this heinous crime to trial, and this needless murder is a blow to the stability that Anambra State is striving to achieve as a whole.
“The State security agencies have been instructed by Governor Soludo to act swiftly and decisively in order to capture the perpetrators and bring those responsible to justice so that this kind of thing doesn’t happen again,” Aburime said.
He said that the state government will not back down from its unwavering dedication to protecting the safety of its citizens and their possessions, no matter how many criminals try to derail the state’s prosperity and stability.
