The Lagos Division of the case Court has heard the case of Olanrewaju James, also known as Baba Ijesha, a prominent Yoruba Nollywood actor. James was sentenced to five years in prison.

The High Court of Lagos State found Baba Ijesha guilty of sexually abusing a juvenile, and he appealed the decision.

A five-year jail term was handed down to the Yoruba Nollywood actor on July 12, 2022, for the sexual assault of a juvenile by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court.

Baba Ijesha went to the Appeal Court to contest the sentence because he was unhappy with the verdict.

According to Baba Ijesha’s lawyer, Kayode Olabiran, who testified on Tuesday before the Appeal Court, his client was duped and followed orders from a script his colleague had given him.

The appellant was caught in the act. Actor stands as the appellant. According to him, his coworker Damilola Adekoya invited him to perform in a script.

Yet, Babajide Martins, the director of public prosecution, asked the court to reject the appeal on the grounds that it was unfounded and had no validity.

He pleaded with the court to uphold the lower court’s decision.
