During the March Super Eagles friendly against Ghana and Mali, Finidi allegedly had a falling out with Ademola Lookman and Sadiq Umar.

Lookman came in as a replacement for Umar in both matches, however Umar did not play a single minute.

He claims he has a friendly connection with every one of his players, despite being 53 years old.

As an assistant coach, Finidi enjoyed a friendly relationship with all of the players throughout his 20 months with the squad, he remarked during his unveiling ceremony.

The title may have changed, but I am the same old me even in my new role as head coach.

Relationships with the players will not be the subject of debate.

You don’t have to punish someone for failing to do their job; these guys are professionals and we must provide them with the same opportunities they have in Europe.
