Former member and popular dancehall artist Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo aka Blackface has said that he doesn’t think the Plantashun Boiz would ever get back together.
From the late ’90s to the mid-2000s, the Plantashun Boiz group—which featured Blackface, 2Face (also known as 2Baba), and Faze—ruled the Nigerian music industry. The group broke up in 2004, got back together in 2007, and then broke up again.
It was quite apparent in a recent interview with Channels TV that Blackface would not be returning to the group.
If getting back together had been feasible, he continued, it would have taken place long ago.
In his opinion, the reunification of Plantashun Boiz was never going to take place, he stated. If this had actually transpired, the group would have felt comfortable getting down and talking about what to do next. Of which they haven’t done and don’t want to do. I like not to pressure others into doing something they aren’t comfortable with.
“I talk to Faze and I talk to brothers of Innocent Idibia [2Baba],” Blackface revealed when asked about his relationships with his former bandmates.
I am pals with all of his relatives. However, between the two of us, there is absolutely nothing to talk about. The tone must be professional. No one should be held up because they aren’t prepared to fully commit to a project.
