After sexually assaulting one of his students, Jalaludeen Zakari, a head teacher from Burra village in the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, received an 11-year prison sentence.

Bauchi State High Court No. 11 presiding judge Justice Nana Fatimah Jibrin handed down the decision.

This was revealed in a Saturday interview with journalists in Bauchi by Barrister Dayabu Ayuba, who is the Prosecuting Counsel and a State Counsel with the Ministry of Justice.

He claims that the victim was one of three witnesses he submitted to the court throughout the trial.

He said the girl, who was six years old, had been admitted to the school for an admissions screening when the inmate defiled her and held her for hours after the school had officially closed.

The lawyer said that the act amounted to rape because, “Although he did not use his manhood on the girl, he fingered her.”

This case is similar to the one that happened in 2023 in Bauchi, where a judge handed down a life sentence to Yusuf Bako for raping a girl in a mosque.

On top of that, two further males were each sentenced to 35 years in prison for the culpable murder and removal of a teen girl’s privates in Jama’are.
