Premier League: Pochettino says Cole Palmer isn’t what anyone expected

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated categorically that Cole Palmer was not someone he had anticipated making a significant impression on while at Chelsea.

After signing a £42 million agreement with Manchester City in August, Palmer became a Blues player.

Twenty goals for the Premier League put the 21-year-old in a tie for first place with Erling Haaland, a former colleague of his from City.

“We believe they can perform, but it is true he is performing in a very good way; maybe above expectation,” Pochettino said when asked if he was shocked by Palmer’s goal total since rejoining Chelsea.

I believe this is his first full season of regular playing time, but we must proceed with caution due to his youth, growth, and the fact that he has several areas in which he must progress.

Having said that, he is obviously very different from our initial expectations. Let me tell you the truth.
