Police in Imo state form task forces to apprehend IPOB and ESN militants

In the early hours of February 12, 2024, terrorists attacked the Correctional Service Farm Settlements in Umualomoke and Senator Patrick Ndubeze’s residence in Okigwe. In response, the commissioner of police in Imo State, Aboki Danjuma, has ordered a massive manhunt for the individuals believed to be part of IPOB-ESN.

Police Public Relations Officer Okoye Henry made the announcement on Monday in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

The following statement was issued by the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma: “The Command’s Special Tactical Squad has been deployed and given all available resources to work in tandem with the military and other sister security agencies to apprehend individuals believed to be involved in the attacks on Correctional Service Farm Settlements, Umualomoke, and the residence of Dist. Senator Patrick Ndubeze in Okigwe in the early hours of 12/02/2024. These attacks led to the release of seven inmates, the kidnapping of the officer in charge of the farm settlement, and the death of a police inspector, respectively.

“This was announced by the CP during his visit to Okigwe to assess the ugly incidents firsthand. During his visit, he ordered the special tactical squad operatives to step up their efforts to rescue the farm settlement officer without harm and to apprehend the escaping convicts so they can face the full force of the law.”
