Kano State has been designated by CEDEHUR as the “worst-governed and least-performing” state in the nation since the new administration assumed power in May 2023.

During the unveiling of its quarterly report on governance across the 18 states with new governors, the Center made the assertion on Tuesday in Abuja.

Transparency, accountability, quality of appointees, and impact of policies on inhabitants of the 18 states were the alleged criteria used to make the evaluation, according to the Centre.

In an interview with media in Abuja, Amb. Adebayo Lion Ogorry, who was speaking on behalf of the Centre, said that Kano had poor governance because the present government was too busy focusing on political structures rather than the people.

One state whose governor has made a number of mistakes is Kano.

According to the data that is currently accessible, the state is deeply involved in a number of political initiatives that have had a significant impact on the administration.

It was determined through interviews with state stakeholders that the governor has any proposals for addressing the socioeconomic difficulties facing the state.

“It was also observed that his selection of political appointees was influenced by political factors rather than qualifications and expertise,” Ogorry emphasized.
