Chief COPP, GOCs, and others are appointed by COAS Lagbaja

Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has appointed Major General A.B. Ibrahim to be the COPP.

The appointment of new general officers commanding (GOCs) for a few of the Nigerian army’s divisions as well as the commandant of the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) has also been accepted by Lagbaja.

According to the new system, Major General Alabi is now the General Officers Commanding (GOC) of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General E.A. Abubakar, Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Chibuisi, GOC of the 7th Division, and Major General Mala.

Other appointment  include a new Provost Marshall (Army), Brigadier General Garba, Chief of Military Intelligence, Brigadier General Ugiagbe, Major Generals Ochai and Maina as Commandants of the Army War College of Nigeria, Major General Aligbe as Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Major General Oluyede as Commander of the Infantry Corps, and Major General Kange as Corps Commander Artillery.

According to reports, the appointment was required to fill the void left by the retirement of some officers as a result of President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of new service chiefs on June 19.
