Junior Pope: Burial date for late Nollywood star announced by family

John Paul Odonwodo’s family has announced the burial details for the late Nollywood star.

A boat carrying Junior Pope and four other actors went down in the Anam River in Anambra State on April 10 when it overturned on the way back from a filming location.

Junior Pope was one of five fatalities among the twelve people who boarded the doomed boat; seven survived to be rescued.

After the requiem mass at Saint John-Mary Vianney Parish in Asaba, Delta State, on April 23, there is another one scheduled for May 13 at Christ the King Catholic Parish, G.R.A., Enugu, according to the details of the actor’s funeral arrangements, which were signed by Divine Odonwodo on behalf of the family.

A memorial service with candles will be held in Enugu’s Amadeo Event Centre at 5 p.m. on May 14. His rural residence in Uwala Abaka, Ukehe, a hamlet in the state’s Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, would be the site of a wake on May 16.

Following a funeral service at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church in Ukehe on Friday, May 17, the pope will be laid to rest in his rural residence. The actor’s burial will be promptly followed by interment.

On May 20, a thanksgiving liturgy will be held at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Ukehe, to conclude the burial arrangements.
