Under Muhammad Usaini Gumel’s leadership, the Kano Police Commissioner and other members of the joint security agencies have pledged to comply with the Federal High Court’s ruling prohibiting the re-instatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II by the Kano State administration.
A number of high-ranking military and security officials, including the Police Commissioner Muhammad Usaini Gumel, have issued a warning that the current situation in the Emirate Council would not be used to undermine the state’s unity and tranquility.
“We have resolved as a joint security force to maintain peace in the state of Kano and in response to developments involving the Emirates Council. The Police Command, in conjunction with other security agencies, respects the court order,” he stated.
According to him, the police leadership has only seen the order to arrest deposed Emir Bayero on social media and has not received it in writing.
He went on to say that no one could force them to complete any task.
“Regarding the Emirate’s situation, we acknowledge the Emir who was there according to the Court’s statement, and our solemn position is to adhere to the Court’s orders, which state that the status quo must be preserved,” he said.
There will be no hesitancy in the arrest of anyone who attempts to stir trouble, according to the Police Commissioner.
It is imperative that lawbreakers refrain from wreaking havoc in the state because the lives of its citizens are sacred.
