Posted by The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, has warned against keeping its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in jail, saying that doing so would bring down the whole country of Nigeria.
The warning came from IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, in reaction to a call from the Coalition of Northern Group (CNG), which asked President Bola Tinubu not to let Kanu go.
Powerful said that the Northern alliance had no idea why they were telling Tinubu not to let Kanu go.
In a statement that he signed, Powerful reminded the alliance that Kanu had been released and found not guilty by an Appeal Court in Abuja. This meant that Tinubu should order Kanu’s release.
He told Tinubu that Nigerians had asked him to let the IPOB head go because it was best for Nigeria.
He told the group to stay away from Kanu’s illegal and unconstitutional arrest, or “we will destroy what little they have left.”
Powerful says, “The herdsmen Coalition of Northern Group (CNG), which is telling the Nigerian President to let the law take its course, are so clueless that they don’t know that the Appeal Court of Nigeria in Abuja has already released and cleared Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”
“The government of Nigeria is breaking both national and international rules.
“IPOB, as a legal and peaceful movement, will legally bring down Nigeria at home and around the world if they refuse to be a democratic country, free our leader, and call for a referendum overseen by the United Nations.
“It would be best for everyone if this government took the opinion of reasonable people from around the world as soon as possible and released Kanu without conditions and paid him the money the Abuja Court of Appeal and Umuahia High Court said he should get. If Mazi Nnamdi KANU is held illegally for as long as the Coalition of Northern Bandits wants, it will sink Nigeria and everyone who benefits from it.
