This followed a motion made on the House floor on Tuesday by Hon. Shamsu Hassan Basko, who is a representative for Mafara North.

Basko noted that the purported continuous verification exercise was causing hardship for the state servants.

He requested the House to form an urgent committee to look into the reasons surrounding the denial of pay to civil officers, including employees of the State Universal Basic Education Board and Local Government.

Hon. Faruk Dosara and Hon. Nasir Maru both seconded the measure.

After much deliberation, the MPs ordered the Local Government Committee of the House and the House Standing Committee on Finance and Appropriations to look into the issue of unpaid salaries of State government employees and report back within 24 hours.

The committee on State civil servants will be led by Hon. Haliru Kuturu, and the committee on local government employees will be led by Hon. Hamisu A. Faru.
