Ibiyemi reportedly passed away from a pulmonary embolism on Tuesday in the late afternoon at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Ilishan Remo.
Governor Abiodun praised Dr. Ibiyemi as a talented and versatile journalist who used his wealth of professional expertise to improve society in a sympathy statement to his family and media colleagues.
He noted that through his medium, the late publisher contributed his own quota to the economic and political progress of Nigeria and claimed that he was a stickler for the truth.
He entered publication because he recognized the commercial side of journalism right away. Dr. Ibiyemi used his professionalism and financial savvy to benefit NewsDirect, a welcome newspaper.
His passing leaves his family and the journalism industry in a terrible loss. He leaves behind a vast and lasting legacy.
“We in Ogun State shall miss this iconic, brave, and well-known journalist. God, please grant him eternal rest, is all I ask,” the governor pleaded.
