If the escaped convicts from the Suleija prison in neighboring Niger State try to go into Kwara or do any damage, the state’s police command will stop them.

It may be remembered that 118 convicts escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger State, after a violent nighttime downpour damaged the facility on April 24, 2024.

“As a neighboring state, the Kwara state police is well aware of the security ramifications of such occurrence,” stated DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, who spoke on behalf of the Kwara command in an Ilorin statement on Sunday.

The command, she added, was on high alert and cooperating closely with the appropriate authorities to guarantee the state’s safety and security, as promised by Commissioner Victor Olaiya.

We have taken all necessary precautions to ensure that the fugitive convicts cannot enter or damage anyone within the state, he informs the people.

Surveillance has been stepped up in sensitive places, and patrols have been stepped up in the border areas.

Keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary and contact the local police immediately if you see anything fishy. We can keep our communities safe and secure if we work together.

The command of the Kwara State Police Force is resolute in its mission to safeguard life and property, and it wants the people of Kwara State to know that it is prepared to react quickly to any security threats.
