Posted by President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor is likely to be chosen in the 2023 election by 95 million voters, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC.
This information was revealed by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman, at a gathering held in Washington, DC, by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
Yakubu termed the 2023 general election as important for Nigeria in his keynote speech, “Nigeria 2023: assuring credible, peaceful and inclusive elections,” which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.
“The next President will be chosen by 95 million voters from among 18 political parties. In 2019, more than 84 million people were eligible to vote.
However, Yakubu stated, “With the most recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), we are going to add at least 10 million Nigerians, bringing the Register of Voters to 95 million.”
He claimed that the election was significant since 176, 846 polling places were projected to receive votes from 95 million Nigerians.
